LTC (Ret) Kyle Brede

Lieutenant Colonel T. Kyle Brede is a native of Texas. After graduating from Denison High School in 1988, he entered the Army as a UH-1 Utility Helicopter Repairer (67N). He served in a variety of positions, from crew chief to Squad Leader, and locations to include Fort Lewis, Washington; Sinai, Egypt and Japan. In 1993, then Sergeant Brede was selected for the Army’s Green-to-Gold program. He graduated as a Distinguished Military Graduate from Tarleton State University and was commissioned as an Aviation Officer in 1996. Lieutenant Colonel Brede’s assignments include Flight Platoon Leader and Flight Operations Officer with A Co., 2d Battalion, 52d Aviation Regiment, Camp Humphreys, Korea; Platoon Leader, Battalion Adjutant and Headquarters and Headquarters Service Company Commander, 15th Military Intelligence Battalion (Aerial Exploitation), Fort Hood, Texas; Assistant Professor of Military Science, Lehigh University, Bethlehem, Pennsylvania; Assistant Team Chief, 5th Brigade, 2d Iraqi National Police Division Transition Team, Baghdad, Iraq; Executive Officer, 78th Aviation Battalion, Camp Zama, Japan; Integration Officer, HQDA G-3/5/7, Army Campaign Plan and Transformation Directorate at the Pentagon. Lieutenant Colonel Brede served as the 33d Professor of Military Science at the University of Oklahoma from 2012-2018. Lieutenant Colonel Brede holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in History and a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Science from Tarleton State University, and a Master of Arts Degree in International Relations from Webster University. He is a graduate of the Aviation Officer Basic Course, Military Intelligence Officer Advanced Course, the Combined Arms Service Staff School, the Advanced Transition Team Course, the Pentagon Staff Officer Course and the Command and General Staff College. Lieutenant Colonel Brede’s awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal with 5 oak leaf clusters, the Air Medal, the Army Commendation Medal with 2 oak leaf clusters, the Joint Service Achievement Medal, the Army Achievement Medal with 3 oak leaf clusters, the Humanitarian Service Medal with bronze star, the Joint Meritorious Unit Award and Army Superior Unit Award. He wears the Combat Action Badge and the Master Army Aviator Badge with ratings in multiple rotary wing and fixed wing aircraft. Lieutenant Colonel Brede is married to the former Ms. Krista Whitson from Tulsa, Oklahoma and they have three sons, Kameron, Jacob and Luke.
